Chris’ Midtail

I love bikes like this. Gleefully – unapologetically – focussed on comfort as the metric to determine performance. Comfort as the basis of being able to ride for a long time, or to ride at all. Comfort that comes from not hunching or stooping. With the crazy Nitto/Riv Bosco bars, this bike is so cruisey.

It’s got a 535mm chainstays making the bike really stable in combination with the relaxed head tube. The riding position is extremely centralised, which means you can really tip the bike comfortably into turns with loads of control. I really like that element of it.

As ever with my Pinion bikes, it’s built with my sliding Pinion mount. The wheels are 650b x 2.5″ with mudguards. The rear rack is brazed onto the frame in recognition that it’s central to the whole design of the bike. The rear light routes internally through the rear rack and there are loads of bosses on the top platform for, hopefully, Chris’ own design of fold old solar panel array. There are loads of bottle bosses, a Carrier rackset up front with hard mounts for the Manivelle basket. Plus it’s topped off with one of my brass top caps

This is one of those builds where I wish it was mine. Thanks Chris!
