One of the bikes I exhibited at Bespoked this year was the off road touring tandem I built a while back. The tandem team were kind enough to lend it to me for the show. I gave it a thorough clean, but that was it. It was showing the scars of the wild trips it has been on, with plenty of scuffs, scrapes, and worn chains. The captain’s cranks have some gnarly scrapes from a rock garden incident…
I was really stoked to be chosen for the SQ Lab Choice award. They liked the classic frame building approaches, like the sleeved tube reinforcements, alongside the fact that I made the frame, fork, stems, and racks resulting in a cohesive bike.
I’m really thankful for my customers trusting me to build their bikes, and how they all embrace that holistic approach to bike building that means I so often get to build the whole enchilada. Thanks Matt and Naomi, and thankyou SQ Labs!
