Cradle Pedals

At the beginning of 2026, renowned pedal makers MKS got in touch with me about working together on a special pedal. It was impossible to pass up such an opportunity.

I designed this pedal for the kind of bikes I make the most, the kind I love the most: on and off road touring bikes. For touring, you want a big supportive platform, but with less savage shoe destroying pins than an MTB pedal, and more elegance…

I grew up mountain biking, so there are influences in my design from vintage mountain bike pedal cages, and Brooklyn Machine Works’ iconic Shin Burger pedals. The two plates at each end of the pedal reference my signature twin plate fork crowns, and create a larger surface area for your feet. The platform is a big comfy 100mm x 90mm.

Both plates are slightly curved to create a hollow for your foot. The inner plates are also a little smaller than the outer plates so the whole pedal is concave both left to right and front to back, cradling your foot.

Most importantly, MKS’ beautifully polished and perfectly adjusted bearings mean the Cradle pedals will last years underfoot.
